Along the trail, you’ll connect with Tennessee’s musical heritage when you visit the hometown of Grand Ole Opry comedienne Minnie Pearl, take in a live radio broadcast, and see the birthplace of Southern gospel music.
 
You’ll soon find yourself deep in AMERICAN HISTORY. See where David Crockett began his career of service, walk in the footsteps of U.S. Presidents Andrew Jackson and James K. Polk, and investigate the mysterious death of explorer Meriwether Lewis.  See what life was like for plantation owners and slaves in the 1800s, and stand on sites where the Civil War left bullet holes and battle scars you can still see today.
 
If your heart is in the Great Outdoors, the Trace offers hiking trails for all skill levels, as well as biking, horseback riding and camping.  The rivers in this area are some of the most biologically diverse in the world.  You’ll encounter several wineries. The soil and climate here are great for vineyards.
